FAQs
Are all wool blankets 100% natural?
Yes, indeed! Our blankets are made from 100% Pure New Zealand Wool or 100% Merino wool. They are certified according to OEKO-TEX, Woolmark, and Wool Integrity NZ, and are superwash-free.
Is the wool used certified?
Yes, absolutely! Woolmark and Wool Integrity certifications apply. All blankets also meet OEKO-Tex standards for the use of safe fabrics for direct skin contact.
Are your wool blankets superwash free?
Yes, indeed. We do not use a superwash process in our production. Superwash applies a 'plastic' layer around the fiber, which we prefer to avoid. We'd rather go for 100% natural.
Are your blankets mulesing-free?
Yes, our blankets are produced mulesing-free. Our quality marks monitor this. Animal-friendly production is what we advocate.
What is the TOG value of the blankets?
With wool, the use of a TOG value is not common. Wool has a unique function; namely, it insulates. Are you warm? Then it dissipates heat without you getting sweaty. Are you cold? Then it retains heat. However, for our products, we have provided a TOG indication for comparison. With wool, it's best to work with layers. Is it still a bit chilly? Then add an extra layer.
Are wool blankets hypoallergenic?
Yes, of course! Wool is generally hypoallergenic. Few people are allergic to wool. However, some people experience an itchier sensation from wool than others. This occurs sporadically. If you want to reduce that chance, choose merino wool. It's even softer and completely itch-free. And importantly; any slight itch often disappears once the blanket has adapted to your body temperature.
Are wool blankets safe to use with a baby?
Yes, wool is the safest material in a bassinet, co-sleeper, or crib. The unique property of wool is its perfect temperature regulation. Your baby won't get too cold or too hot. This is because heat can also dissipate. Wool is therefore often recommended by midwives and maternity care providers. This is in contrast to other materials, which retain heat and do not allow it to dissipate. This is especially important for babies; we prefer not to have an overheating baby. If you still don't want to choose wool, then opt for 100% cotton. It is also natural and the closest alternative to wool.
Is wool suitable for summer?
Yes, absolutely! Contrary to what many people think, wool is suitable for every season. When it's warm, it wicks away heat without making you sweat. However, always use common sense. For newborn babies, a blanket is still nice in the summer. But for slightly older children who can regulate their own temperature well, a sheet is enough in extreme heat.
My blanket still smells a little like sheep, is that normal?
Some people do indeed still smell a little like sheep. And yes, we actually prefer that! This means it's 100% natural and no chemicals were used in the production process. And that's what we like to see in blankets for young and old. Know that if you hang the blanket outside on a damp morning or in a damp room like a bathroom where someone has just showered, and especially if you just start using the blanket, this slight smell will quickly disappear.
What is the difference between merino wool and regular wool?
Merino has a finer structure, is naturally even softer, and is completely non-irritating. Merino is therefore the perfect choice if you're going to use it directly against the skin. Lambswool is slightly coarser, has a somewhat fluffier structure, and is often used in combination with a sheet in the crib. This can also be used directly against the skin.
Can a lambskin be used in the crib?
That is allowed, but only until your baby can start rolling over. At that point, it is no longer safe to use in bed. It can then still be a lovely play mat in the playpen or a nice surface for the pram when you are supervising. Always make sure the bed is made up short.
Why isn't a sheepskin white?
A sheep is not naturally pure white. Our sheepskins are 100% natural and have not been treated to become whiter. Therefore, the fleeces always have a slightly yellowish tint.
How do I wash my wool / merino wool blanket?
Ideally, you should wash wool as little as possible. Wool has self-cleaning properties, and simply airing it out on a fresh, damp morning outdoors or in a humid room, such as a bathroom after someone has just showered, works wonders. Washing is necessary for stains. Wool is delicate, so a strict washing program is essential. Only wash on a 30-degree wool wash cycle, preferably with wool detergent containing lanolin. Spin minimally or not at all, then lay flat to dry on a towel on a drying rack. Ideally, wash the blankets separately. Too much laundry in the machine at once can cause too much friction.
Where does your production take place?
Our production takes place in the EU. This was a deliberate choice, as it ensures we only work with producers who, like us, value quality and understand the importance of quality marks. Additionally, we can easily visit the production facilities and see firsthand how the blankets are made, because that process is also important to us.
How quickly will my order be delivered?
All orders placed on weekdays before 12 PM will be shipped the same day. These are often delivered the next business day within the Netherlands.
What if my package doesn't arrive or is damaged?
Always contact us. Sometimes, with a little detective work, we can find out where your package has gone. Or, in case of damage, we will of course resolve it. But every situation is unique, so please contact us. We're happy to help.
Can I still return a product?
Yes, that's correct. The 14-day return period starts on the day you receive your package. You have these days to register your return. After that, you have another 14 days to return it to us using a shipping method of your choice. Please always follow our instructions so that we can process your return as quickly as possible. It is always important to return the product unused, unwashed, clean, and neatly folded. It would be a shame if something doesn't arrive properly, and it prevents us from being able to accept the return.
